James Anderson Foster
That’s an excellent question! For the most part, this course is for actors who want to better create, understand, inhabit, and portray the characters created by the authors of the books they’ll be performing.
When it comes to a non-fiction memoir, those characters don’t exactly have to be *created*, but they *DO* need to be authentically performed by the actor. You might intimately know the backgrounds of each of the real people involved, but how authentically can you *convey* that person, without trying to rely on simply trying to “impersonate” someone else (especially if you’re not Rich Little)?
While the specific skills taught in the course are focused on fiction performances, they’ll be equally helpful for someone performing non-fiction as well, I believe.
